July 29, 2014 Day 48
Temperature this morning was 64.
This one was a joke on me. I needed some sweet vermouth to make Manhattans with the Woodford Reserve, distiller's select Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey I had purchased at Costco in Tucson. Off to the state controlled liquor store in beautiful downtown McCall, walking, of coarse. I thought I had given my self plenty of time figuring that the State Controlled Liquor store would be open at 10 AM. Wrong, it opens at 11 AM. What kind of deal is this, not opening until 11 AM? I had 22 minutes to spare, what the heck all I need is Sweet Vermouth, I'll just walk up to Riddleys and pick some up along with the cherries. Up to Riddleys I go and walk around the wine section four times, yes four times, thought I might have missed it the first three. Then I checked with someone that might know more than me and they had a blank stare on their on their face and said there is a State Controlled Liquor Store near down town. Back I went and by that time it was a little after 11 AM and they were open, hooray. They had plenty of Sweet Vermouth, in fact so much that it took me a little while to determine just which one I wanted. That done I proceeded to walk back to the Park, trying to take a little short cut, that ended up in a dead end, from which I had to back track. Needless to say I got my steps in for the day.
Finally made it back just in time for Lunch, Bev and Skip came by and wanted to go to STAX to check it out. It was good as usual, with the line out the front door, even on a Tuesday, when there are not a lot of folks in McCall.
We had Happy Hour at Helen and Jim's and afterward went to Salmon River Brewery for dinner with them.
Nancy is still resting.
