July 30, 2014 Day 49
Temperature was 59 this morning when I got up and made some coffee.
Wednesday is farmer's market at McCall, we went there and picked up some berries, corn and a cantaloupe. They did not have what Sharon considered a good selection of Lettuce so we continued on to Paul's for that and some additional necessaries including Banana Bread.
When we got back I was sitting in the rain, under the awning, and Skip dropped by to perform his second CPR, this time on my plug-in cooler, where we keep our extra drinks, as there is not room in the inside RV refrigerator. A couple of days ago the cooler stopped working and we discovered that the 12v plug had melted and the fuse had broken. So I called my handy-man, Franz and we discussed what I could do for a quick fix, buy a new 12v plug and splice it into the old cord. And he cautioned me to make sure I had the wires connected properly, ground to ground and positive to positive. I bought a nice replacement plug at Radio Shack, yes they do have a Radio Shack in McCall, with a pig-tail with one wire marked positive, good start. Back at the RV I spliced in the new plug trying to make sure that I had it properly connected. Since the replacement plug had the positive marked on the wire with the writing, I assumed that I should connect it to the old cord with the writing. Having done that, it did not work. Thinking that it may be a deeper problem I disassembled it as far as I could and could not determine any additional problem. At one of the HH I consulted Skip and he said I had probably connected it up wrong. Today he stopped by with his trusty volt meter and checked the continuity on the old plug and determined that I had it bass-ack-wards. He re-attached it, correctly and more securely, we turned it on and now it works like a champ. Thanks to Skip we don't need another trip to Walmart to buy a new one. And Franz, next time I will call Skip first to determine proper positive and negative.
This all happened before Noon. Wednesday is Turkey sandwich of the day at Subway, Sharon's favorite and we had to go. I told her that I would meet her there as I was going to walk to try to get my steps in for the day. The sandwich was good and I had mine made into a salad again. Sharon paid.
After HH we had burgers on the grill and mine was, you guessed it, a Green Chile Cheese Burger, um, um good.
My replacement Netflix of Shooter arrived today, a movie featuring the character of Jim Bob Swagger, from Steven Hunter's book, Point of Impact. I have read most of the Swagger character books and was very interested in seeing the movie. It followed the book very well, but left out some pretty interesting details as they always have to do when they make a book into a movie.
Nancy is back from her rest.
