Tie Breaker

August 13, 2012, Day 59

I had a first in my tennis come back quest.  I was graciously invited to play with the boys in the morning and in the first set, Skip and I, took Franz and Mark to a tie breaker and won, what a thrill.  But it was short lived as we then proceeded to drop the next two sets.  But, it was a good feeling for a while.  After the match Franz offered to treat for Malts at the local malt shop, since the last time he offered he didn't have any money, this time he did.

On the way to the courts, there was a big rumbling sound coming form the airport.  On closer inspection it was the B-25 preparing for take off.  It took it a little while to get it all warmed up, but when it did it rolled down the run way and was airborn.  On the way out of town it made a low pass over the town, so that everyone knew it was on its way.  Quite a sight.

The sun shelter arrived today via FedEx, it was labeled as EZ-set up, not quite. With Sharon and I struggling for about a half hour it was raised and in place. We are hopeful that this will give us some more late afternoon shade so we can host Happy Hour. It's Orange by the way.

To night we had dinner at Tony and Nana Horton's house in McCall, what a great setting. Tony is a regular on the tennis courts in McCall teaching, giving clinics and playing, it's almost a full time job. Franz and my friend Ronnie met Tony at the Huntsman games in St. George last year playing tennis and that relationship was renewed when we came up here for the summer. Tony is a very nice guy and he and his wife Nana have put together a beautiful home decorated with collectibles that they gathered from there extended travels around the world.

A highlight of the evening was playing a game of Petanque, a french game that pre-dates Bochie Ball and is played in a similar manner.  The team of Fred and Nana were the winners although that is disputed by some.
