Pictures In The Park

August 20, 2012, Day 66

Today was a rather slow day, with a bit of relaxing enjoying to cool, calm, dry weather and very little smoke.

Started with grocery shopping, Sharon reluctantly took me along and while she did some serious provisioning for us, I wandered the store.  I finally settled on the wine isle and started reading wind labels.  On was very interesting, it was called Seven Deadly Zins, I can't remember then all, gluttony, greed, sloth, lust, envy, pride, wrath.  I didn't remember them all, I went to the Internet.  Clever, but I did not buy it.  Instead I bought, Hells Canyon, 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve, Snake River Valley with a front label titled Artists Conservation Series, with Pheasants flying over a field, Tilted High Country Pheasants, by David Hagerbaumer.  Another in a series of fine sporting scenes from he Hells Canyon art collection.  160 cases estate bottled in the Snake River Valley.  I might as well finish the back of the bottle for Jacque's benefit, she has said it's all BS, but it is fun to write.  "Come Hell or High Water.  On the edge of the Rocky Mountains, our grapes grow in on of the world's highest elevation vineyards.  Ancient volcanic soil and temperate Northwest climate along the Snake River produce naturally balanced ripe fruit flavors and crisp finishes.  Hells Canyon wines are limited production and reflect the character and individuality of the Mountain West."  On hints of anything, or tastes like this or that, I'll give you a full report when we crack it open.

The biggest project of the day was to clean my golf clubs.  They haven't been cleaned since we left Sun City and my golf cart with the automatic club cleaning, ball washing thingy on the back.  Boy do they look good, even the grips, I can feel a really low round coming on next time out.

I took quite a few pictures of two interesting items in the RV Park.  On was a sculpture of an eagle that is attached to a dead tree and the other is an abandoned air plane in the entrance to the park, across from the air port, that looks as if it crashed landed there.  There is even a created up Jeep at the back of the plane.

We had Happy Hour at Skip and Bev's with the rest of the gang. As Sharon was preparing outlandish salza horsdevours, apparently the cap to the salza jar was welded on and she broke her portable, hand held, battery operated Jar Opener, so one of my tasks for tomorrow is to find a replacement on the Internet, Amazon, here I come.

Dead chicken on the grill, with an adequate white.

In the evening I got hooked on the Little League World Series game between Japan and China.  Little League games are supposed to last 6 innings, this one was all tied up and the end of six, 0 to 0.  It ended up going a full nine innings and Japan won it in the bottom of the ninth with a home run.  The pitching was fantastic and the depth of pitchers on both sides was amazing.  In Little League they limit the number of pitches a pitcher can throw, so each of the teams had to use multiple pitchers and they each performed.  It was a good game.
