With nothing planned today Sharon and I decided to take a ride to Tamarack. Tamarack is called a resort, but it closely resembles a Ghost Town. It was a development project that started in early 2000. Very ambitious, with lots of housing developments, large houses, a very classy golf course and big ski hill. The McCall area is very much a tourist area and it encompasses both the winter and summer seasons, with the big lake, Payette, and two big ski hills, Brundage and Tamarack. Tamarack hit a bump in the road in 2008, with lots of the infrastructure in place at the "Resort", the economy tanked and there is was sitting high and dry. One of our local friends is a snow board instructor during the winter and says that it is making a gradual come back, but has a long way to go to reach its ultimate potential.
After a drive through the area to look at the lodge, golf course and all the big houses, they are still building big houses. We drove through a few campgrounds at the bottom of Tamarack, located right on Cascade Lake, beautiful scenery, be the camping areas did not have many services.
We went to lunch at Dave and Kathy's, Sharon had a burger and I made the mistake of ordering Chinese food, even though they had a Chinese cook. He came out and told me my meal would be out shortly. They also provide a Husband Sitting Service that Sharon considered taking advantage of.
Back at the park I decided to stake down the awning, as the previous evening the breeze had come up a little and the awning rattled a bit, but without incident. One side of the awning was able to be anchored with the screw-in, while the other was on the concrete pad and I opted for a bucket of water. Time will tell if it will hold up in the wind.
Happy Hour was at Margaret and Eddie's and afterwards Sharon and I opted for desert, ice cream and carrot cake, to let our lunch settle.
