My Ole Friend Mikey and trying our best to get to Oshkosh

June 2, 2013, Day 2
Today we started out with a bad coffee experience.  I blame it on the fact that we did not have a good shake down.  I forgot to put a coffee filter in the coffee pot and when the coffee brewed the coffee grounds clogged up the drip thing and it over flowed all over the cabinet.  The up side was the RV smelled like a Starbucks for quite a while. Skipped the morning coffee and had breakfast at the Blue Moon in the Casino.

Traveled to Tulsa/Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to see my ole friend Mike Barns, an old NAA guy that I used to run around with 25 years ago.  We got back in touch last year when he was calling around to some of his past friends to create a guest list for he and Sally's 50th wedding anniversary.  We had a nice dinner with Mike and his family, on Sunday.  Sally his wife, his sons Beau, and Mitch and Mitch's wife Lacy and their daughter Kiley.  We stayed at the Mingo RV park in Tulsa where they squeezed us in among all the permanent residents.  We did a little necessary shopping at the local CVS and then called it a day.

The reason that these posts are all on the same day is because I have had a lack of technology availability. little or none and some days I was just too lazy to sit down and write it up.

June 3, 2013, Day 3
Today we are making tracks to Oshkosh it is going to take us three days to get there and two nights on the road.

On the way out of Tulsa, we stopped at the Vinita, Oklahoma, glass house.  Sharon seems to think this is where Mike and Sally had their wedding reception and they are now on there way to number 50.

What we do is figure out how far we want to go in a day, usually around 300 miles or less.  Then we try and determine if there are any RV parks in that area.  So that's what we did, looked like we could make it to Bethany or maybe a little further to Eagleville, Mo.

Got to Bethany and the RV park was back behind the KFC, had maybe 8 sites and you put your money in a box on the pole, We made on circle of the 8 sites and got the heck out of there.  Headed up the road to Eagleville where we found a nice rustic camp ground with very friendly manager, she would talk you leg off.  Had another semi shitty experience, but thanks to the camp manager she noticed that my sewer connection was dripping.  When I checked the black holding tank valve it was in the open position, ut oh, better watch out.  So I was ready had my sewer hose in the sewer and the connection ready to catch to overflow and let 'er go.  It was so much coming from the tank that it semi over came my preparations and well I got a little on the ground.  A quick clean up, attached the hose and everything was like new again.  It did not dampen Happy Hour, sponsored again by Andi and David, followed by Salmon on the grill and a nice bottle of Costco wine, Kirkland's best.

June 4, 2013, Day 4

Today was a full day leaving Eaglevill at 8:30 and arriving in Rockford, Il. at 4 PM.  It rained most of the day and the temp in the morning barely got out of the 50's and finally into the 70's and when we got to the park we had sunshine.  Took the truck and filled it up with $3.95 diesel for about $150.  Green chili cheese burgers on the grill and a bottle of Mike and Sally's wine.  No WiFi or cell service down in the valley where the campground was so Sharon and I just sat around and stared at each other.  Did happen to find 9 channels on the antenna.

June 5, 2013, Day 5

Today was a short day, only about 150 miles and made it to Oshkosh a little after 1  PM.  And then the fun started.  We screwed around for three hours trying to find a decent Camp Ground.  Not many places near Oshkosh had our choice of two.  The first one that sounded pretty good turned out to be a mud bog and was hardly what I would call a RV park, so we passed after getting stuck in the mud bog and pulled out by a very nice Oshkoshite and his trusty 4 wheel drive pickemup truck and tow strap.  We are now comfortably settled in to the Circle R Camp Ground and are very comfortable, except it feels like winter.  It is 9 PM right now and the temp is 57 degrees.  We had dinner with Curtis, the main reason for coming to Oshkosh, at Applebees, oh yes, we did have Happy Hour before dinner, sponsored by A&D.  Time for bed.

Doesn't Curtis look good next to his aggie colored truck with the LONGHORN on it.
