June 15, 2013 Day 15
Today started early in the morning about 3:35 AM, it started to rain, so I rolled over and went back to sleep, at 4 AM it started raining harder so I had to get up and move the stuff out of the wet. Curtis and I were planning a golf day today, but we decided to postpone it until the early afternoon because of the wet and cool conditions. He came by and picked me up at 1 and we headed off to Lake Shore, the Oshkosh Municipal golf course. Interestingly, back in the old days, Muni used to be the Oshkosh Country Club, but the members got tired of all the logging commerce going up and down the Fox River that they moved it out in the country to its current location. Muni is in a very great spot, right on lake Winnebago, good views and everything. The logging industry petered out and now all you have on the lake is recreation. A nice course with good grass and bent greens and high rough. So much rain lately that the can't get out to mow the rough. Curtis had not played in about 8 months, but did well considering. On one long par 5 he was on in three and his birdie putt hit the back of the cup and bounced up and out, nice par.
Schneider called while we were on the golf course and invited us to dinner when we finished. Curtis and I came back to the RV, had a cool one, cleaned up a bit and then headed for Schneider's.
I guess that I need to give credit where credit is due, we have had some additional sponsors of Happy Hour. I would like to recognize Bill Neubauer for his excellent Wisconsin Manhattan the other night. And the Schneider's for their sponsorship of not one, but two. Ben gets extra credit for a fresh bottle of Jameson.
We watched the wrap of the third round of the Open and went to their patio for more conversation. We cut that a little short when the rain drops began to fall. Ended up with a very nice shower over the next hour. I gave Ben two bucks and told him that we didn't have time to stop for some wine but that this is what I would have spent. Nancy made a Sea Food Lasagna that was very good, with some very aromatic garlic bread and a nice red wine. That was followed by Kahlua and cream and a fantastic cremeburlee. Maybe we were not quite pissed up.
Back to the RV by around midnight and a good night's sleep.
