Horns Still Alive

June 16, 2014 Day 5

Today we traveled to Phoenix.  Not a long drive and made good time.  We stayed at Pueblo El Mirage, a resident  Park Model park catering to the retired life style, quite similar in nature to the life style in Sun City where we live, except smaller residences, all the activities and golf carts.  Mixed in among the Park Models there were some RV spaces available, it made for a nice setting.  They also have an 18 hole golf course associated with the property.

We had some Walmart shopping to do and while we were out we stopped at a sports bar for lunch and as luck would have it the Longhorn CWS game was on when they were playing Louisville.  Great game, horns won 4 to 1 and live to fight another day.  Different than when we went to the CWS in 2011, that time they were only there for two games.

The main reason for coming to Phoenix was to visit with my friend John Hockett, Darby.  (We call him Darby because of the long time ago movie, Darby and the little people.  Hockett is short.)  Darby has had a liver problem and I wanted to stop by for a visit.  Talked to John and we set up a visit for noon on the next day.

We had Happy Hour in a warm setting, just trying to stay cool.  For dinner we had some special chicken salad that Sharon had made up before we came from some left over rotisserie chicken from Costco.  That name seems to pop up quite often.
