Headed to the Land of Green Chile

June 13, 2014 Day 2

This day started with breakfast for me at the Fly Catcher.  Sharon did not want to go and I did not want to share my breakfast with the flies, so I got it to go and ate it in the RV.

We had good travels to Las Cruces, where we planned to stop for a couple of days to see my Step Mother. Lorraine.  Made it there by 1:30, local Mountain time, had a time change along the way.

Las Cruces is where I had my first Green Chile Cheese Burger experience for the summer, not authentic, but more than adequate, at a local Whata Burger, there are three in Las Cruces.  It was a double meat, double cheese, with a toasted whole wheat bun.  It was kind of a was of a retro Whata Burger, where they took your order an wrote it on the sack, no computers.  Just like in Austin when we arrived in 1969.

That evening we went by and visited with Lorraine and toured her house where she is in the process of making a number of remodeling updates, including the main bathroom, which is currently in progress, with Jo Jo the worker busily laying tile around the tub and preparing to tile the floor prior to replacing the sinks and vanity.  It's going to look great and she will really enjoy it.  Lorraine is 90 and still going strong.

For dinner that night we went to one of her favorite spots, Cattle Barron.  I had snapper Pontchartrain, with a side of green Chile.  My second dose.  It was warm it Cruces also 103.  Total miles to date 724.
