MIXED DOUBLES ???????

July 14, 2012, Day 29

Today was Mixed Doubles.  When I joined up with the McCall Tennis group,  I was hounded by the tournament chairman, Bob, to participate tn their up coming Mixed Doubles event.  Reluctantly I agreed.  So, this morning, at 8:45, I arrived at the tennis courts, to meet my partner , Colleen.  She and her husband both participated in the event but did not play together, that's the definition of Mixed Doubles.  Our first match was with Norm and Bobby and we got bageled.  Not off to a good start.  So we waited around for our next match, because in this tournament you were guaranteed at least two matches.  Our second match was with my partner's husband and his partner Vickie.  We were more successful here as we won a couple of games.  We were on a high, and as a result we were able to take the match 6-2, 6-0, wow, we won.  This is the highlight of my new tennis activities.  The tournament director, Bob, said we did not have to play our third match, we could shake hands, flip a coin or play it out.  I tried to convince our next opponentsTony and his 14 year old partner, Sam,  to shake hands and go away as co-consolation champs, but the elected to play the final match.  As a result we would have been better to shake hands as we lost 2-6, 0-6.  A long morning on the courts and very rewarding.

Hung around the RV most of the afternoon, cleaned up, napped, and got ready for Happy Hour. Skip came by with an invitation for evening golf at 5PM and I declined as being a little expended from the morning tennis.

Franz returned from his trail ride, and didn't bother to clean up, looked a little bit like a clown, and we had Happy Hour with he, Marcia and Bev.

A nice big rib eye on the grill with some left over Camus, great meal. The little fox was hanging around for some scraps, but we don't feed the wild life
