Ladder Demo

August 25, 2015, Tuesday, day 72

54 this morning, looks clear.

The Coffee I ordered from Amazon arrived. I was down to my last few Kcups and they don't have a very good selection of Decaf here in McCall.

Lunch at Shore lodge with F&M and J&H with great views and very few kids.

HH with all. Franz was anxious to see the extension ladder in action so we had to do a Ladder demonstration and extended it almost to its full height. I am happy to report that no one was hurt in the process, but it does look like it is a two man job.

Dead chicken on the grill paired with a fine TBC. Might be getting near the end.

Golf Duo

August 24, 2015, Monday, day 71

42 in the morning

This morning three of us went out an tried our hand at Disc Golf. There is a nine hole, basket, course just up the bike path from us, near the high school, put in by the city of McCall. As you would expect we were not very good. It seems like the trees kept getting in the way and the baskets were too far from the teeing ground. But we all agreed it was good exercise and we look forward to doing it again, soon. I made two pars on the par threes, much shorter holes.

In the afternoon we played real golf, or Stick Gold as Curtis calls it. 18 holes at Jug Mountain with Steve, Bob and Ken, locals. It was a beautiful evening and while we had one non score keeper, the other scores were reasonable. I ended up with more balls than I started with.

Smoke

August 23, 2015, Sunday, day 70

40° this morning with still some smoke in the air.

Peaches

August 22, 2015, Saturday, day 69

44° in the morning on another smoky day.

Al and Nancy left for Michigan, they will be gone a couple of weeks.

Farmers market for fresh peaches.

I found another abbreviation, HTP, Home Town Pizza. After HH Sharon and I along with Jim and Helen went for a quick dinner of Pizza and salads. No, not a Cobb.

Motor Boys Return

August 21, 2015, Friday, day 68

44° this morning with clear skies, no smoke.

Lunch at TPH, yes the do serve lunch there. Same big portions as breakfast so Sharon took half of hers home for lunch tomorrow. I had a Cobb Salad. Ever wonder where the name came from. The Hollywood Brown Derby, named after its owner Robert Howard Cobb. He made it from left overs in the kitchen for a Midnight snack.

Franz and Al returned from their motorcycle trip up norther to Montana, Glacier and Canada with Eddie and Tony continuing to other parts of the lower 48.

HH was attended by everyone, and Al and Nancy finished off their bottle of Baileys, one dead soldier.

Un-native Salmon, on the grill.

TxTag, Boo

August 20, 2015, Thursday, day 67

54° this morning

Sharon and I had Lunch at Pueblo Lindo the nice little Mexican Food place just up the road on 55.

After lunch we had a small Cone at My Father's Place. Much better than Maverick where the amount of soft serve ice cream is less and the price is more.

HH with all the gang then a GCCB on the grill which was outstanding.

I was Fighting with TxTag for quite a while today trying to clear up a situation where the have a license plate number, that is not ours, linked to our account and is racking up tolls while we are out of state. I don't think I did any good as I was passed from pillar to post with no feeling of satisfaction. Looks like something we will have to clear up when we return.

LED Bulbs are Great

August 19, 2015, Wednesday, day 66

47° and still smoky, the morning sun is red.

Got my new supply of LED Light bulbs today from Amazon so I am ready when additional halogen bulbs fail.

Wednesday, August 19, 2015

Whisky Ice Balls

August 18, 2015, Tuesday, day 65

44° still looks smoky, no blue sky at 7am.

This was a down day as everyone was tired from Boise and the smoke is still around.

Today was big package day. I talked myself into the fact that I needed a compact extension ladder, when I saw the price was around $80 instead of a couple of hundred that I had seen at camping world. It came in today, extends to 12.5'. Along with the Ice balls mold that Williamson bragged about having when he was at a bar in Colorado.

Sharon was running low on Grey Goose so we made a Liquor run and re-stocked the liquor cabinet and I think we can make it to Albuquerque now before we need to re-stock again.

HH tonight was lightly attended as the motor boys were out of town.

I Had Fun with the Girls

August 17, 2015, Monday, day 64

54° this very, very, very smoky morning.

We had Breakfast at TPH in separate groups. Franz and the Harley boys.  Fred, Sharon and Marcia. The Harley boys are getting ready to depart and continue their trip stopping for the night in Missoula. To be followed shortly by Franz and Al, after Al's Dr. appointment. Seems that with all the preparation Al still needed a new tire before they left.

Fred and the girls, Nancy, Marcia and Sharon went on an adventure to Boise.  We were able to get away around 9:15. First stop was Harpo's for a stretch of the legs some snacks and soft drinks. Next stop was the Mall, and the Good Life Tee Shirt Shop. Almost everyone got a bag full. We then reviewed the movies that were playing in Boise and could not come to a consensus as to a movie to see, so we scrapped that. I hauled the bags back to the car as the girls headed for lunch at the Cheese Cake Factory, I met them there.

As always it was too much food and we accumulated quite a bit of left-overs, but not before we all shared a piece of Lemon Meringue cheesecake with four forks. Then it was off for bargain shopping, after I hauled the left-overs back to the car. The girls went first to Penny's and I met them in Kohl's.

We were then on our way to Walmart and Costco. Walmart to buy a cooler and ice for the lunch left-overs and other stuff. When we returned to the car we decided we would scrap the Costco leg as we were all getting a bit tired.

But we had one more place to go before we headed back, pedicures and a hair cut for Fred. Nancy seemed to enjoy the pedicure the most.

We made it back into McCall around 8, we were gone less than 12 hours. One of the things I wanted to do was get fuel in Boise as it is usually cheaper but not the case this time, it was 4 cents cheaper in McCall I filled up when we returned.

Lots of low lying smoke in the area as we returned made the landscape with the setting sun look very strange.

Marcia heard from Franz that they had all made it successfully to Missoula to spend the night before heading north in the morning.

While is was out getting fuel, Marcia delivered my Snore machine accessories package.

Golfing at Jug, day 63

August 16, 2015, Sunday, day 63

46° this morning, still  quite smoky. Looks to be a cool day.

Today is Golf day at Jug, the Harley boys, Eddie P and Tony along with Al and me. Eddie P was the medalist with an 84 and I was several strokes behind. The others were non score keepers with Al claiming he had a good back nine until 17, and he did, and Tony was very pleased that he finished and made it back to the Pro shop in one piece.

After golf we were joined for Dinner at Jug by Nancy, Sharon and Marcia and Franz. We enjoyed a nice comfortable evening, a fine dinner and a lovely sun set and view.

Happy Birthday Marcia,day 62

August 15, 2015, Saturday, day 62

Very smoky this morning, ash was even on the cars. Fires are in the area, but no signs of threats to us yet. Temperature was in the 50's.

Marcia's birthday is today and according to Marcia she does not celebrate her birthdays so, we had a non-celebration HH, with a non-celebration birthday cake and non-celebration guests. The singing of the non-celebration "Happy Birthday" along with the non-celebration gifts.

Eddie 9 Toes

Harley Boys, day 61

August 14, 2015, Friday, day 61

Temp this morning when I got up at 9, Sharon said it was 71°.

Subway for lunch with F&M then across the street to the NAPA sale. They didn't have anything in the color that I wanted so I passed.

The motor cycle Gang, Eddie P and Wood Pecker, Tony,  arrived around 5.  They all came to the HH and we had a record crowd, 10. F&S, F&M, A&N, J&H, Eddie and Tony. Lots of BS flowed and the weekend and evening activities were planned.

Dinner at Blue Moose. Then noche noche.

Those aggies are every where, even if they are not in school.

Good Team Golf, day 60

August 13, 2015, Thursday, day 60

51° this wonderful bright morning.

Boy, this cold has got me. I take some over the counter meds and I doze off for a few hours. Can't do much when you are racked out in your chair.

Did manage to get to jug for golf. We, don, Toby, Troy and me,  managed a 7 under 29. Don't know how that will stack up, as I left right after. I did get my name on two closest to the pin, have to wait on those also.

While I was a way Sharon had a HH with F&M and Jim And Helen. She said it lasted till after 7.

Nice pasta salad and a ham cheese roll-up when I returned.

Steamers, day 59

August 12, 2015, Wednesday, day 59

61° this morning, expecting a hot day.

Appears to be a cooling trend coming in Austin, forecast shows temperatures dropping below 100° later in the week.

Got to 93°here today.

A pretty good accumulation of Wasps from our camping area.

HH with everyone in attendance. A&N brought a fresh bottle of Baileys so they didn't want for more.

Had a fine dinner at Steamers,  Sharon topped hers off with a Creme Burlee.

Disc Golf, day 58

August 11, 2015, Tuesday, day 58

Early morning temperature was 51, expecting a warming trend for a few days.

Lunch at Stax, I told you it would not be the last. I'm still holding it to a half and so is Sharon but she takes half of her half home.

Thought I'd try my hand at disc golf. There is a nice nine hole disc golf course just up from the park along the bike path near the school. Franz noticed it the other day and road his bike through it. We thought id would be a good idea to try it out some day. So I ordered some golf discs from Amazon and some day we'll give it a try.

HH with F&M

Salmon pasta whipped up by Sharon was wonderful evening meal.

The king was here

August 10, 2015, Monday, day 57

51° this morning.

The king is coming, divot that is.

We are not from Kansas any more. Our Texas license plate for our new 5th Wheel finally came in and we ditched our temporary Kansas plate. What a comedy this turned out to be. With forms to be filled out and additional forms to be filled out, all taking place long distance, my instructions not being followed, license plate delivered to the wrong place. But in the end, Ana, at the motor vehicle department hung in there and finally got them here. Now we will not be Illegals when traveling back to Texas.

Franz was going to act as spotter for Al and his buddy for an early morning water ski outing 8 AM, too early to be civilized, and Sharon and I were going to take Marcia to Breakfast at TPH, a more civilized activity at 8:15. However, Marcia felt poorly, Summer Cold, and Sharon and I went on our own.
The divot king, Mike Merens and his wife Nancy, from Sun City Texas came to visit us in McCall. They are on a south to north trip which the final destination is Banff. They spent last night in Meridian, a suburb of Boise and plan to drop by here for an early lunch on their way to White Fish, Montana. We got to show them our new rig and give them a quick tour of McCall which included drive by's of TPH, Subway (Mike, subway Mike, is the owner of two such places in Houston), Payette Lake and stopping for lunch at Shore Lodge.Almost everyone had the Fish and Chips, they are the best.  After lunch they were on their way again. I hope we didn't hold them up too much.

We had a nice little, fast moving rain come through lasting about a half hour. You guys in the Austin area remember rain, don't you. It's that wet stuff that falls from the sky, not to be confused with humidity that doesn't fall from the sky.

HH was just Sharon and me as M still didn't feel up to it. Damn Summer colds. Followed by lamb chops on the grill.

I also installed a command iPhone caddie near my chair so I could have easy access to it while it is charging and hung my Bar sign with a stronger Command Hook so it would not fall off the wall.

Damn Summer Colds

August 9, 2015, Sunday, day 56

50° this morning.

Laid around mostly as I am also suffering from a damn summer cold, trying to shake it with out much progress.

Golf with Al in the evening as I had to get up off my ass and do something.

Oh yes, we did have HH and a Grilled dead chicken salad when I returned from golf.

Bug Lights

August 8, 2015, Saturday, day 55

54° this morning with some cloud cover over night.

Had that Stofers breakfast this morning, adequate, when I spiced it up, but it was not an Atkins.

Took a ride down town to the Farmers Market to pick up some fresh corn on the cob so we could try out our newly acquired corn on the cob  holders.  While we were there I purchased a cup of Huckleberry Lemonade from a couple of youngsters that looked their mother sent them there to get them out of the house.  The young boy seemed more interested in playing in the dirt than selling Lemonade.  The Lemonade was $.50 per cup, I handed the young boy a $5 bill and he kind of looked at it.  I asked him if he  made change, he said, how much do you want.  I did not take advantage of him.

Next we went McCall Drug, the home of every trinket known to man as well as the biggest Ferris Wheel in McCall.  We picked up a little goody that we will probably give as a gift as it looked appropriate.  Next door was the McPaws thrift store that we browsed through, nothing there suite our fancy.

HH with Al & Nancy and F & M. Al and Nancy brought over a partial bottle of Bailey's an wished they'd brought more.

There was a big NRA Dinner at the lodge in the park tonight that was a well attended sell out. Everything ended peacefully, no shots were fired.

Steaks on the grill paired with a fine TBC Cab, accompanied with an artichoke each.

The bug lights were all lit up this evening.
