Fixed 'em

 July 21, Thursday

We had to make two new finds in McCall today, the Optical Store and the Pet Store.  They were right next door to each other on Lenora Street just down from the McPaws Thrift Shop.

The optical store did not work out as I had hoped.  They did not have any frames to fit my lenses so we had to get my prescription from Mitchel Wong faxed over and have new glasses made and nothing happens in an hour.  They will be ready when we return.  In the mean time we made a temporary fix to my broken glasses.

Fixed

At the pet store we found all kinds of good things, we were mainly looking for food and they have a wide variety of very good food, which we will purchase when we get back from bringing home Zoey.

We had lunch with F&M at Home Town Pizza, they have great salads.  I had the Protein Pack, what ever that means and Sharon had a design it yourself salad.

Franz

Eddie P, here is Franz.

We had HH at our place before we went to our last concert for the season, it was all about Broadway.

There were great tunes and very much  more up beat, lively and familiar than the last offering.

My view of the concert.

Red Headed French Horn player.  She was great, played a big solo on the first night.

This is Tony, he is the one that hit the wrong ball, mine #7, into the swamp.

Pre-concert dinner with Al, Nancy, Sharon and the Grouch.

Broken Glasses

July 20, Wednesday

Went to TPC for breakfast.  Sharon and I had talked about it last night after the concert and everybody joined in.  Broke my glasses on the way in, the temple snapped at glasses frame, so I could use them with one.

Got two shipment of sewer hose today, I'm cornering the market on sewer hoses.  I think I am fixed up for any situation now.

Played golf this evening and finally shot a reasonable score, but I lost ball #7, but it was not my fault.  One of my playing partners hit a wrong ball, my ball, #7.  That wasn't the worst of it, he hit it in a swamp and was unrecoverable. So it was on to ball #8.

After golf Sharon and I had cocktails followed by GCCBs on the grill.

Making Music in McCall

July 19, Tuesday

Made a visit to Jeff today.  Jeff is a barber in  McCall that I always saw sitting in a chair in front of his barber shop on 3rd Street and I never stopped in.  This year I told myself that I was going to get a hair cut from Jeff, because it looked like he needed the business and I would hate to be the cause of his having to leave town.  So when we got here and we were driving down 3rd Street, I didn't see Jeff and I didn't see the barber shop. So, I asked around and found out that Jeff had relocated his business up near the airport.  I found his shop and had a good conversation, he is a talker, a Number 2 all the way and his price was right $10.  He call his ship Walk In Hair Cuts.  He giving out punch cards, 10 hair cuts and you get the next one free.  I told him it would take me 10 years to get a free cut.

The reason I got a hair cut was tonight was concert night.  Sharon and I bought a season pass to the McCall Music Festival, three nights of orchestra music, just up my alley, Nancy talked me into it. Before the concert we went with Al and Nancy for dinner at Anchor, good as usual, except for the metal ice cubes in the Jameson on the rocks, the weren't cold enough.  Needed to add additional ice.

The concert was good.  It is amazing that a small town like McCall, Idaho and put together an orchestra of this caliber plus individual performers that are top of the line, but they do and do a great job.  This might sound boring to those of you that are not classical music fans, but tonight was
Tchaikovsky night, two wonderful hours of Tchaikovsky.  First was Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35, featuring Tim Fain on the Violin.  The Finale was Symphony No. 5 in E minor, Op. 64.  I had to look up how to spell Tchaikovsky.

Almost a full moon with a very colorful sky after the concert.

Ants on the Table

July 18, Monday

We had lunch today with F&M at Stax and there were Ants on the  table.

Tried to buy a battery for my Range Finder at Rite Aid today.  It is sort of a specialty battery but they wanted $17.  $17 for a little battery, way out of line, so I passed.  Went back to the RV, called up Amazon and found many offerings.  Settled for four of them for $10, a real steal.

Golf today at McCall, 2:30, 18 holes.  Played better, but not good, still using ball #7.

No group HH today Sharon and I enjoyed a cocktail when I returned from golf.

Dead chicken on the grill, with  a nice white.

Sharon has found a new calling, she is an Artist.

Free Beer Tomorrow - Not

July 17, Sunday

Smell the Bacon, you know what comes next.  Looks like another beautiful day.

Made a liquor store run.  I had a special request from one of my viewers for some Grand Teton vodka.  Seems that it in not available in or around Sun City Texas.   Found it, made in Idaho from Idaho potatoes.  They are really going to be surprised when they see the delivery charge for their order.  I also picked up some Idaho Whiskey and Canadian Pendelton Rye, can't wait to try it in a Manhattan with Franz.

We went for a Sunday snack at Blue Moose, split a small pizza along with a free beer.  They had free beer today, usually that's tomorrow.

Notice Sharon in her Blue shirt, with a Blue plate, and  Blue tile and a Blue umbrella and Blue flowers.  Blue is Sharon's favorite color.

A shortened HH at the park as Skip and I went and played golf with Al and  Don.  I played like CRAP.  I am now on ball #7 as I lost ball #5 and ball #6 on consecutive holes.  #5 in the fair way somewhere, that shouldn't count, and ball #6 in the water ditch on number 7.  However I did find a replacement ball in the water ditch, so that shouldn't count either.

Back at the Park Sharon and I had a very nice salad.

After dinner I watched In The Heart of the Sea on NetFlix DVD, recommend by Marty, I think.  A good story about the writing of the book Moby Dick by Melville, I was a Ron Howard movie.

Recent picture of Zoey.

Brundidge Ski Hill

July 16, Saturday

Great lunch and views at the Brundidge Ski Hill.  We all had burgers and agreed that they were the best we have had in a while.  Sorry, they were not GCCB's.

We are having a contest here in the  park to see who can get the most boxes from Amazon, so far I'm ahead with Franz closing in.

HH here tonight, F&M, Skip and us, others had something else more pressing. Skip filled us in on his experience this afternoon at the at the open  house at the Airport, including his helicopter ride over lake Payette and the surrounding community, including an overhead shot of Al and Nancy's house.

Salmon on the grill, not the fresh stuff from around here, be imported from Costco.

Put Sharon to bed and I  stayed up, sipping a little Baileys, and listening to music into the  night enjoying the peacefulness and the cool weather with the help of a little bug spray to keep the mosquitoes at bay, until it got too cool and I needed to get inside.  Feeling safe being protected by my ever present Flamingos.

Jimmy Buffett ??????

July 15, Friday

Nice lunch today at Anchor Restaurant.  We shared two appetizer plates of calamari and mixed grill, just right.  Great views of the lake.

Brundidge Ski Area

Boat trips available on the lake, afternoon, evening with drinks and a dinner cruise.

After lunch we walked into town to Moxie's on the corner for a scoop.

Then up the block to gallery 55 to see if there was anything that captured our fancy.  While we were there we ran into Alan Giltzow, the artist that made Sharon's fish in the bathroom and my birds, the great escape.

Back at the park I received a back up water heater switch as it was under warranty.

This evening we had entertainment in the park at the lodge.  A Jimmy Buffett type singer that spent a great deal of time in the Cayman  Islands and had written quite a bit of his own songs.  One song made it to a movie, The Firm, and almost had an Oscar nomination.  He did play Margaretaville.  His name is Sunny Jim and you can find him on YouTube.

We used the entertainment for our HH.

Another delivery of Coors Light to our RV at the Park.

Puppy Stuff

 July 14, Thursday

Expecting puppy supplies today and we were not disappointed.  Bowls, seat belt, leash and a puppy play pen, for inside or out.  Now I have a place to keep the Flamingos, so they wont wander off.

Ordered a new sewer hose, a longer one, now I won't have to worry if another one goes broken.

Lunch at the Shore Lodge, good and nice as we remember.  The first time this year, but not the last.  I had a Lamb Reuben, different but good, in fact I had it twice it was so big.

Golf this evening at Jug, beautiful and warm.  Looks like a tie for second in the Senior Division, but only four under, left a few putts outside the hole.  We got Joe again for our fourth.  Finished with  a pitcher.
